Gibellina is the Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2026 with the project “Portami il Futuro”. The city, rebuilt after the Belice earthquake, becomes an open-air laboratory where contemporary art dialogues with urban regeneration and collective memory. The program, promoted by the Ministry of Culture together with the Sicilian Region, the Municipality, the “Ludovico Corrao” Museum of Contemporary Art and the Fondazione Orestiadi, includes exhibitions, artist residencies, redevelopment interventions and a dense calendar of widespread events. Two main festivals: the Festival delle Orestiadi (July 3, August 2) and Gibellina Photoroad (July 4, September 6), dedicated to contemporary photography. Throughout 2026, Gibellina welcomes visitors and citizens on a path that intertwines artistic creation, participation and visions of the future, enhancing the heritage of works and architectures that already dot the territory.

The Antiquarium Comunale di Centuripe hosts 'Sicilia. Un'isola, tante Sicilie', a large exhibition that retraces over thirty years of photographic research by Armando Rotoletti on the island. The shots tell the story of memory, cultural heritage and the multiple identities of Sicily. The exhibition is organized by the Municipality of Centuripe in collaboration with Rjma Progetti culturali and realized with the contribution of the Regional Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity.
Siracusa: il Mare, la Storia, il Sogno

Twenty-six photographs by Luca Scamporlino make up this exhibition hosted in the Ipogeo di Piazza Duomo. The shots traverse Syracuse with a gaze that combines urban views, expanses of sea, architecture and natural landscapes, putting the city's historical identity in dialogue with a poetic and suspended dimension. The installation in the evocative hypogeum space creates a short circuit between contemporary art and the archaeological stratification of the site, offering a visual journey that invites you to rediscover the city through its traces of light and stone.

Set up inside the evocative former Church of San Sebastiano, the exhibition presents a selection of textile sculptures created by Sylvie Clavel, a Parisian artist who lived for a long time in Sambuca di Sicilia. The works are the result of meticulous work on plant fibers, characterized by knots, weaves, and the insertion of faces with African tribal masks. The exhibition path offers a bridge between different cultures, combining textile tradition with sculpture in a unique psychophysical dimension in the European artistic landscape. The permanent exhibition is open all year round.
Un premio da… Strega – Exhibition for the 80th Anniversary of the Strega Prize
Castroreale (ME)
The Civic Museum of Castroreale hosts the bibliographic exhibition "Un premio da… Strega", set up to celebrate the eightieth anniversary of Italy's most prestigious literary prize. Curated by Carmelo Pace and organized by the "Artemisia" Municipal Library, the exhibition traces the history of the Strega Prize through books, documents and archival materials. The inauguration took place on 23 May 2026 as part of the 7th edition of the Castroreale Mystery Festival. The exhibition remains open throughout the summer until 4 September.

From June 26 to September 27, 2026, the Museum of Contemporary Art 'Ludovico Corrao' in Gibellina hosts 'Domestic Displacement', an exhibition curated by Giulia Ingarao and Antonio Leone, part of the program of Gibellina Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2026. Fifteen international artists investigate the theme of displacement in all its forms – geographical, identity-related, political – building an unstable map of contemporary living. The works tell of the trauma of uprooting, the precariousness of memory, and the poetics of estrangement, between migration, conflict, care, and intimacy.
Kamarinèe 2026 – Enjoy Liberty Sud-Est Sicilia

The Municipality of Vittoria presents the tourist-cultural animation program "Kamarinèe 2026 – Enjoy Liberty Sud-Est Sicilia", a rich calendar of events that will enliven the city and the hamlet of Scoglitti during the summer of 2026. The series, also funded with contributions from the Free Municipal Consortium of Ragusa and the Federico II Foundation, offers shows, music, exhibitions and cultural initiatives to enhance the territory and provide entertainment for residents and tourists. The church of Maria SS. Addolorata, known as La Badia, stands in the historic center of Ragusa, next to the Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista. Built in 1796, it is striking for its unusual circular plan and the valuable paintings by Tommaso Pollace, making it one of the jewels of the Hyblaean Baroque. Thanks to an agreement between the Municipality of Ragusa and the Opera Pia 'Collegio di Maria SS. Addolorata', the church will be open to the public for tourist and cultural visits from July 1 to December 31, 2026. Admission is free, funded by the tourist tax revenue, to enhance the city's UNESCO heritage.

Gibellina Photoroad is an open-air and site-specific photography festival that transforms the urban spaces of Gibellina into an open-air museum. The 2026 edition, curated by Arianna Catania, brings together projects on memory, identity, landscape, and social and environmental transformations. The heart of the event is 'Ruins of Renewal', the new site-specific installation by Dutch artist Erik Kessels, set up in Piazza Beuys together with other exhibitions spread throughout the city, open from July 4 to September 6, 2026.

Cultural events by Associazione Trameventi – Summer 2026
Castelbuono (PA)
The cultural association Trameventi organizes three cultural events as part of Estate Castelbuonese 2026. On July 12 there will be a Fashion Show, on August 28 a Silent Reading, and on September 12 a cultural Reading with a dramaturgical-theatrical performance. The events will take place in Castelbuono and are open to the public, with the aim of enlivening the summer evenings of the Madonie village.
