The Archdiocese of Messina - Lipari - Santa Lucia del Mela celebrates the solemn festivities in honor of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, patron and protector of the Aeolian Islands. The 2026 edition marks the centenary of the arrival of the relic of the Holy Skin (1926-2026). From August 15 to 24, novena, holy masses, processions, concerts and moments of prayer take place. The highlight is August 24, the solemnity of the saint, with the solemn procession of the silver simulacrum and the reliquary boats, followed by the blessing of the boats.

During the summer of 2026, the islands of Lipari and Vulcano host temporary markets dedicated to craftsmanship and creativity, without food products or clothing. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Lipari, is part of the enhancement of the Aeolian territory, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the center of Lipari, in Via Salita San Giuseppe, the stalls enliven the evenings from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM. On Vulcano, the evocative Strada degli artisti welcomes exhibitors based on the availability of spaces.

Scuru. L'abissò e la pietra

Thirty-one shots make up the exhibition path of Carlos Solito, set up in the Church of Madonna delle Grazie on the Acropolis of Lipari. The exhibition, part of the EOLIè26 – Abisso e Mistero festival, documents caves, underground rivers and natural cavities that cross Italy from north to south, providing an unprecedented mapping of the hypogean heritage. The photographer's lens delves into the darkness of these environments, revealing a hidden landscape of water, stone and memory. A close dialogue with the volcanic nature of the Aeolian Islands, where darkness becomes a space of protection and discovery.
