The exhibition brings together photographs, documents and instruments that tell the dual soul of the professor: from pioneer of Italian volcanology to refined photographer, capable of documenting eruptions and Sicilian landscapes with scientific rigor and aesthetic sensitivity. The exhibition, hosted in the Sala Parlatorio of the Palazzo della Cultura, is part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Ponte's birth and aims to restore the profile of a multifaceted intellectual who marked the history of the University of Catania and geophysical research in Sicily. On Friday, July 31 at 6:00 PM, the exhibition will be inaugurated with the presentation of the volume 'Gaetano Ponte (1876-1955). Scienziato e fotografo siciliano', an opportunity to delve into the figure of the man and his cultural legacy.
Esposizione dei violini Amati e Goffriller al Conservatorio Bellini

The Museo Civico di Castello Ursino lends two historic violins, a Girolamo II Amati from 1683 and a Matteo Goffriller from 1700, to the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini di Catania. L'esposizione, allestita nei locali del Palazzo di Città, presenta opere provenienti dal Museo Civico di Castello Ursino e dai Musei Civici di Genova, tra cui dipinti come 'Tobiolo che guarisce il padre cieco' e 'La morte di Catone'. L'ingresso è a pagamento: biglietto intero 2,00 euro, ridotto 1,00 euro.
Mostra "Caravaggio e il suo ambiente" a Palermo

Il Comune di Catania presta il dipinto "Natività" di Paolo Geraci (1627) per la mostra "Caravaggio e il suo ambiente" a Palazzo Reale di Palermo. L'opera, proveniente dalla collezione civica del Museo di Castello Ursino, sarà esposta dal 30 aprile al 3 ottobre 2027. La mostra è curata dallo storico dell'arte Pierluigi Carofano e organizzata dalla Fondazione Federico II.
